Born in Germany to Belgian parents, Kim developed a passion for sports early in life and discovered Skeleton at the age of 13. Her dedication to the sport led to an extraordinary career, culminating in becoming the #1 ranked Skeleton athlete in the world and representing Belgium at three Olympic Games as the country's first Olympic Skeleton athlete.
Alongside her athletic journey, extensive travel sparked a deep appreciation for exceptional hotels, cultures, and culinary experiences. She studied International Hospitality Management in Brussels, completing a front office internship at Hotel Arts Barcelona (a Ritz-Carlton property) before later earning a Bachelor's degree in International Management, which she completed remotely while competing at the highest level of her sport.
She now lives in Calgary with her wife Nicole, a Brazilian Olympic team athlete and nurse at the Alberta Children's Hospital. After achieving nearly everything she set out to accomplish in Skeleton, she now brings the same passion, discipline, and global perspective to The Travel Atelier, creating thoughtful and unforgettable travel experiences for her clients.
